Instead of New Year's Resolutions - What is the Meaning of Life?
New Year’s resolutions are often the list of the things we are going to stop doing, instead of what we’re going to start doing. I think there’s a better way to proceed this year.
A six year-old boy asked Astrophysicist Neil Degrasse Tyson: “What’s the meaning of life?”
After the shock and laughter from Dr. Degrasse Tyson, and the audience in the hall, he had a very simple answer.
He said, instead of looking for the meaning of life, create the meaning in your own life. “If you are looking for meaning, you may never find it”

To determine the meaning of life, and the forward progress and momentum of your creative career, answer this question:
What is the most important thing at this precise moment?
Updating your website, writing that grant proposal, relaxing, visiting friends? Maybe it’s washing the dishes or doing your laundry.
Practicing, composing your next composition, networking, returning email and text messages, making sure you’re on time for a meeting taking place in 30 minutes?
In the flurrying tornado-like winds of social media distractions and various obstacles that seem to dominate our daily lives, perhaps we should consider that there is only one thing important at this precise moment in time.
This is the approach I’ve been trying the past 18 months.
What is the most important thing right now?
Go there.
Stay there.
Stay there until it’s done.
Please send me a note if you want to talk about your "meaning of life." From there, we'll figure out the next step, answering the question, "What is the most important thing right now. We probably can get it done in 15 minutes. (No fee)
