Laura Lentz is a flutist, collaborator and teacher-mentor. She seeks
out and incorporates music’s emotional qualities and rich sound world,
as the means to build empathy and compassion. This is one way, she
believes, we can harness music’s infinite power to connect us with
ourselves and one another as artists and people.
Her debut recording, “Jacob’s Triptych” includes flute and electronics
music by Dutch composer Jacob ter Veldhuis (aka JacobTV).
Lentz currently serves as Flutist and Artistic Director for
fivebyfive, the collaboratively-minded NY-based chamber group. The
ensemble works with leading composers of today and has received awards
and support for its imaginative, creative programming from the Eastman
School of Music, New York State Council on the Arts, Chamber Music
America, and New Music USA.
