You are what you eat (old saying).

You are what your write.

Or, U r what u write.

I'm not THAT old, and I know this makes me out of touch with the times and much too serious, but I'm still surprised when I get messages and texts in this new word order. 

Maybe, I’m just an old dog.

I'm sure I'll get used to the new normal one day. 

Whether we like it or not, we are being judged by how we write, whether it’s a cover letter and resume, the professional materials you send out, and yes… emails and texts.

I know it’s acceptable these days to abbreviate, drop grammar and punctuation rules; bad speling is ok two.

“It’s facebook; it’s not supposed to be perfect.” (A colleague)

Call me and old timer or whatever, but since you don’t always control who sees your work, what would u rather have them c?

Do you do business, or try to do business, with someone of a certain generation? (They graduated from college 30 plus years ago.)

Accurate well-crafted and authentic writing tells your story. It says a lot about you.  So does laid back, no-rules grammar and abbreviations.

In addition to the art you make and how you make it, I believe showing that ur a good writer also conveys your story as well.

Did you hear the true tale of the pastor who would send condolence notes to families of the deceased in his congregation? He ended each note with LOL.

He thought it meant “Lots of Love.”
