Preaching to the (Wrong) Choir

I wonder…we’re all on social media, upping our social media game on a daily basis. I see all the wonderful concerts that are taking place, noteworthy events and important announcements involving ourselves or the artists we represent.

We aren’t necessarily bragging or showing off. We’re just spreading the word.

Who’s seeing this?

Us. The Industry Choir.

Shouldn’t we be reaching our “customers,” concert ticket buyers, CD buyers? With our current use of Social Media, I’m not sure we’re reaching the right choir.

Do you collect names at your concerts? Do you do meet and greets? From the stage, do you invite the audience to find and follow you on Social Media? Does that invitation from the stage generates followers? Has this worked for you?

There’s a saying in Public Radio when it comes to on-air fundraising. “Fish where the fish are,” meaning, do your on-air fundraising during the times when audience numbers are at their highest.

There are many lovely fish who believe in you so much they come to your concerts. How are you staying in touch with them after the last note?

What success stories can you share with us?

Remember: we also have friends with benefits who can help us reach the other choir, including new audiences. https://www.allartispersonal.com/blog/2018/3/17/friends-with-benefits
